For better or worse, the trend in the video game industry is to be very secretive about everything. Most games aren’t even announced until they’ve been under development for a year or two and have a year or less until they will be released. There are certainly many exceptions due to delays but Square Enix seems to have become the absolute MASTER of early announcements.
Final Fantasy XIII (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360) was announced in the summer of 2006 and is now projected for a summer 2010 release! Holy shit! Four years from announcement to release!
Dragon Quest IX (DS) was announced in December 2006 and will supposedly be released this summer, 2.5 years later.
But wait, it gets worse. Giving us perfect examples of 1) not counting your chickens before they’re hatched and 2) not learning from your mistakes, Square Enix has announced the SEQUELS to these games!
Dragon Quest X (Wii) was announced December 2008 and Final Fantasy IV (?) was announced last week. Even worse, FFIV will be a retarded massive-multiplayer online game like FFXI which means I won’t go anywhere near it. The End.
