Perhaps the most famous original game for the Atari 2600, the player guides adventurer Pitfall Harry through a wild jungle collecting treasures and avoiding logs, snakes, scorpions, pits, fires and crocodiles. Collecting all of the treasures within the strict 20 minute time limit requires the player to map the terrain and to make use of the game’s many shortcuts.  Pitfall was influential on both the platformer and action/adventure genres.

Pitfall! was inducted on February 23rd, 2009.
